Academically I have completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology culminating many years of comprehensive study, intensive supervision of clinical skills and research.
Professionally I have amassed a considerable amount of experience in working with a variety of difficulties in people of all ages in both private and public services, in the UK and New Zealand.
To keep my clinical skills to the highest standard and current with the latest advances in clinical psychology, I regularly attend national and international conferences & courses.
I am an ACC approved clinician working on; Pain, Concussion, Training for Independence and Sensitive Claims contacts.
I use a variety of therapeutic models (techniques) including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Systemic and Family Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitising Reprocessing (EMDR) * I am one of the few people in South Island who can offer this therapy.
Acceptance and Commencement Therapy, (ACT)
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Principals
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP, also known as Attachment Focused Family Therapy).
I work closely with other professionals including; Psychiatrist, Play Therapist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Nurses to whom I can refer.
